Casas de Cambio (Exchange Offices) S.A. (CADECA)
On June 14, 1994 the Sociedad Mercantil Cubana Casas de Cambio S.A. (Cuban Exchange Office Company S.A.), known as CADECA, was incorporated under Notarial Deed 1499 on the Incorporation of a Company issued by the Special Notary´s Office of the Ministry of Justice.
It was incorporated due to the early expansion of the tourism sector, which required the existence of a specialized office network for money and travelers cheque exchanges and international card cash payments. The first office was opened at the Hotel Nacional. In October 1996, foreign exchange sales and purchases using Cuban Pesos (CUP) were authorized and the service was opened in all but six Cuban municipalities.
After more than 20 years of operations, CADECA, S.A. is attuned with the present times to improve its name as an institution by promoting among its employees such banking system traits and principles as transparency, simplicity and reliability.

CADECA currency quotations
Presently, two currencies are being used in Cuba, namely, the Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC) and the Cuban Peso (CUP). CUP can buy CUC. The following currencies may be exchanged for CUC and/or CUP, at client´s choice, and they can be re-exchanged upon leaving the country.
